Web-based email

What is web-based email?

With web-based email, you use a browser on your mobile device rather than an email client. After connecting to the network and entering the URL for the web-based email service, you may login and access to email in a similar manner to how web-based email services are accessed via web browsers on your desktop PC.

How does it work?

With web-based email, the email user interface is provided by a web server. After you have connected to the network and logged in, the web server creates a page to show your mailboxes including your inbox. When you click on the inbox, the web server creates a new page to show a list of your email messages. Each subsequent click results in new pages being transmitted to the browser on your mobile device where they are displayed. You need to be connected to the Internet whilst you are using web-based email so that a new page can be transmitted to the browser with each click.

All Nokia business devices with a WAP, XHTML or HTML browser support access to web-based email services that support each respective technology.

What are the benefits?

Web-based email may be accessed from any device, including Internet kiosks, so long as it has Internet connectivity and a browser that supports the technology used - whether WAP, XHTML or HTML.
