What is Bluetooth?

Bluetooth enables compatible mobile devices, peripherals and computers that are in close proximity to communicate directly with each other without wires.

How does it work?

Bluetooth is a short-range wireless communication technology. Popular ways to use Bluetooth technology in mobile devices include:

• Synchronizing calendar and contacts wirelessly between a mobile device and a nearby Bluetooth equipped computer
• Using a Bluetooth headset for wireless connection between a mobile phone and the headset
• Connecting a phone to a hands free car kit - without taking your phone out of your pocket or bag

It is also possible to employ anti-virus software that runs on email gateways that looks for viruses before they enter an organization’s internal network or email system.

About Bluetooth

Nokia mobile business devices have built-in Bluetooth connectivity, which makes it possible to connect them with compatible Bluetooth headsets, computer applications, such as Nokia PC Suite, and Bluetooth hands-free car kits.

The current Bluetooth standard specifies a radio signal range up to 10 meters (30 feet), at the maximum speed of 720 kbit/s. Proposed new Bluetooth standard specifications are targeting higher speeds. Bluetooth also provides a relatively simple confirmation mechanism for users to improve protection of their phones and other devices from unauthorized connections.
